Vice-President: Brenda Slama
Brenda is the Sales Manager/Engineer with Positech Corporation.  Brenda and her husband, Brian, have two children, Josee and Gus.  Their nine year old son, Gus, was diagnosed with Fragile X Syndrome when he was 21 months.  Their daughter, Josee, is 12 and Gus' biggest advocate and the best big sister ever!

President: Nancy Carlson
Nancy is a retired marketing consultant.  She has been married to her husband, Ken, for over 25 years.  They received their son's Fragile X diagnosis when he was 3 1/2 years old.  Derek, their only child, is now a young adult attending a day habilitation program and volunteering in their community.  In the past six years, Heartland Fragile X Alliance has grown from a handful of parents to a core group of parents, families and friends that have helped raise funds and awareness of Fragile X Syndrome in their communities.  Nancy is looking to continuing to bring hope to more families through outreach.

Board Member: Paul Mulhausen
Paul is a medical doctor in Iowa.   The life of his family and many of his friends has been shaped by Fragile X.  Paul’s wife, Teresa, has been diagnosed with FXTS and their son, Ryan, has Fragile X Syndrome.   Many of Paul’s friends come from families with Fragile X and are part of the Heartland Fragile X Alliance.   Paul’s medical work has been focused on people who experience disability, primarily in old age, but also from birth or acquired at a young age.   Paul loves volunteer work (playing mostly) with people who experience the challenges of physical and/or intellectual disability and is a special fan of Courage Leagues Sports in Urbandale, Iowa.  Paul joined the Heartland Fragile X Board in 2018.
